Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure timely procurement of materials and services at the best possible cost;
- Perform financial analysis on purchases taking into account many factors like currency exchange, material loss, inventory carrying cost, duty, bonuses, and transportation costs.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contract terms and conditions, loan agreements while maintaining and developing strong relationships with suppliers;
- Coordinate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives;
- Manage the tendering and supplier selection process, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process;
- Monitor compliance with contracts and procurement agreements, ensuring that delivery times and quality standards are met;
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the supply chain and establish prioritized target improvements. Then gain alignment on the strategy and lead the team to targeted results;
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators ( KPIs ) to evaluate the performance of the procurement process and make continuous improvements;
- Manage the procurement budget and control costs to ensure efficient financial management;
- Eventually carry out other activities according to the needs and/or criteria of your immediate superior, whenever necessary;
- Travel to the different sources of supply locally and potentially in other countries to establish and develop commercial trade, organize supplier meeting agendas, lead meetings with leaders and members of the supplier in order to maintain, develop, and improve commercial relations with suppliers.
- Responsible for leading and managing all activities related to the acquisition of materials, equipment and services necessary for the efficient operation of the mineral processing plant.
Competencies And Skills
- Ethics - Maintains the highest level of integrity, ethics commitment to safety and compliance to Kennametal's code of conduct; role models these behaviors for suppliers. Experience with conflict mineral compliance and other purchasing regulations.
- Supply Chain Management – Experience and knowledge of sourcing, managing, and building supply chains (understanding of supplier cost inputs, supplier processing, cost to transport, to timely delivery).
- Demonstrated Leadership Behaviors – Proven experience in leading and developing the capabilities of the team, comfortable leading through influence, skilled in all forms of communication, and confidence to lead boldly to drive incremental measurable business metric improvement. Able to effectively lead Supplier Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Strategic Mentality – Demonstrates ability to create strategic sourcing strategies to identify where to prioritize time and resources to support business improvement targets.
- Business Acumen - Demonstrates an understanding of products, internal business processes, external customer segments, strategic direction and business objectives. Aligns business objectives and develops sources of supply based on strategic direction.
- Business Performance Measurement - Demonstrates an understanding of internal business processes, external customer segments, strategic direction and business objectives. Aligns business objectives and develops sources of supply based on strategic direction.
- Customer Relationship Management - Understands organization of internal customer groups, key users and characteristics of these customers. Drives to understand customer requirements and uses this information as an input into sourcing decisions. Develops and fosters mutually beneficial customer relationships.
- Data Management – Skilled in analytics; leverages ERP software & raw data to organize and prioritize information for decision making.
- Project Management – Designs, plans and manages projects to deliver value-added solutions within defined time and cost parameters.
- Financial Analysis – Able to create cost savings scenario summaries and track purchase price performance to commodity markets to differentiate between cost movement due to commodity markets versus supply chain improvement. Understands financial concepts including invoicing, accounts payable and other financial business processes. Interprets financial data, analyzes cost structures, and determines financial impacts of decisions.
